Tips to help your candles last longer and burn better

· Before lighting the candle remove bead and label and trim the wick to ¼”.

· Pillar candles are designed to burn clean and evenly. If burned properly, the candle should self consume. We recommend burning the candle on the initial lighting for a minimum of 2 - 3 hours (depending on the width of the candle). A good guide is to burn it within a pinky finger's width of the edge.(See photo) This means you need to allow ample time to burn the candle, if you only have 20 minutes, don't light the candle. After the first burn always burn it at least 1 - 2 hours or until the wax pool fills to within a ¼” - ½” from the edge. This process allows for an accumulation of heat to melt across the breadth of the candle and provide even burning throughout the life of the candle.

· A pillar's wick is designed to form a carbon mantle when it burns. The carbon mantle should not be removed unless the flame is smoking. In this case, extinguish the candle and trim the wick to 1/4". Remove any carbon/wick trimmings from the wax pool.

· A grouping of burning pillars creates a stunning effect, especially when displayed in a fireplace or on a mantle piece.  Candles burned close to one another will affect each other's burning quality due to their combined heat.  Bear this in mind when creating decorative arrangements.

· Votive candles are designed to liquefy while burning and must be used in an appropriate sized container. The inside of the container should be of similar size to the votive candle. Too wide of a container will leave the liquid wax too far from the flame and excess wax will remain. Votive candles are manufactured to consume themselves completely. If burned free-standing, votives will drip.

· Always remove any labels or decorations on the side of the candle prior to burning the candle.

· Keep the wick centered for even consumption of the wax. This will also prevent possible heat damage to the container.  If an off-center flame is causing the candle to burn unevenly, simply move the extinguished wick to the center with a Wickman tool while the wax is still soft.

· Store candles in a cool, dry place away from light to prevent fading.

· Always burn candles on a protected, noncombustible, heat-resistant surface securely placed on an appropriate holder. Other than jar candles, all candles may be susceptible to dripping or guttering. A dripless candle is a misnomer and precautions should always be taken.

· Placing a fragranced or colored candle directly on furnishings can cause surface damage.

· Burning a candle in a draft will cause the flame to smoke. Over time this can affect home decor and mark walls with soot.

CAUTION: Failure to follow any candle instructions could result in injury or property damage. WARNING - To Prevent Fire - Stay within view of a burning candle. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch fire.
